About Shelly BLU TRV

To control your Shelly BLU TRV in your Shelly Smart Control application, you must first add Shelly BLU Gateway Gen 3 to your account and pair it with the Shelly BLU TRV device. For more information about how to pair your devices, go to the Shelly BLU Gateway Gen 3 Device Smart Control page.

When you pair the devices, go to your Shelly Smart Control application and tap the Shelly BLU TRV to open its control panel. You can use the different tabs to manage the behavior of the device.

Shelly BLU TRV: Automatic control

The Shelly BLU TRV can control your room temperature automatically or let you set the valve opening position yourself. This is controlled by the Automatic temperature control setting. When you enable it, the device manages your room temperature automatically. When you disable it, you control the valve position directly.

To set up the behavior mode of your Shelly device, go to Device settings > Behavior.

Main controls

Use the Main controls tab to view primary information about your Shelly device and adjust your temperature or valve settings, depending on whether Automatic temperature control is enabled in Device settings > Behavior.

When automatic control is enabled

The Main controls tab contains the following temperature settings:

• Current temperature readings in the room

• Target temperature

• Valve position, from 0% (closed) to 100% (fully open)
  The Shelly device lowers the temperature and decreases the fluid flow by closing the valve when the temperature rises above the setpoint, and it increases the fluid flow by opening the valve when the temperature falls below the setpoint.

• Battery percentage of the device

Available actions:

• Drag the pointer across the temperature wheel or tap the plus and minus signs.

• Tap on a temperature mode icon to activate the mode.
  For more information about how to configure and enable a specific temperature mode, go to the Sensor settings > Temperature favorite positions subtab.

• Tap the Boost button to open the valve entirely (to 100%) to reach the target temperature faster.

When automatic control is disabled

The Main controls tab contains the following temperature settings:

• Current temperature readings in the room

• Valve position, from 0% (closed) to 100% (fully open)

• Battery percentage of the device

• Favorite valve position
  To configure favorite valve position, go to the Sensor settings > Temperature favorite positions subtab.

Available actions:

• Drag the slider up or down to set the valve position.

• Tap the quick-access buttons to instantly set the favorite valve position.

• Tap the boost buttons to open the valve entirely (to 100%) or close it (0%).

Notifications

Use the Notifications tab to view all notifications that you received on your Shelly device.

Charts

Use the ​Charts​​ tab to view graphical representations of the key device indicators:

• Temperature

• Valve position

In each chart you can:

• Filter the available information by:

  • Time period - select the time period for which you want to view the chart. From the drop-down, choose one of the following options: Last 24 hours, Day, Hourly, Last 7 days, or another period.

  • Date - choose the specific date for which you want to view the details. Use the left and right arrows to find a specific date.

• View the ​Average​​, ​Min​​, and ​Max​​ temperature readings for the selected period.

• Manage the preferred chart preview by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner of the chart.

• Export the data as a .csv file by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner of the chart.

Sensor settings

Use the Sensor settings tab to configure the available sensor settings and attach additional sensors to your Shelly BLU TRV device.

Temperature favorite positions

In the Temperature favorite positions subtab, you can configure target temperatures or predefined valve positions to ensure the preferred temperature level in your room is reached.

Depending on whether Automatic temperature control is enabled in Device settings > Behavior, you have access to the following settings: automatic temperature modes or favorite valve position.

Automatic temperature modes

When you enable automatic control, you can set up the following temperature modes. To enable a specific temperature mode, turn on the toggle and enter the target temperature. The temperature mode ensures that your heating will reach the desired temperature automatically whenever you enable it.

• Eco

• Sleep

• Comfort

• Boost

When you configure a temperature mode, you can turn it on or off in the Main controls tab.

Favorite valve position

If you disable automatic control, the favorite valve position setting becomes available. Tap the Add favorite button and enter how open you would like the valve to be as a percentage. You can set up your favorite valve opening position from 0% (closed) to 100% (fully open).
When you configure your favorite valve position, a five-pointed star symbol appears in the Main controls tab to indicate it.

Temperature units

In the Temperature units subtab, you can select your preferred temperature unit: °C or °F.

Temperature offset

In the Temperature offset subtab, you can adjust the readings of the device temperature sensor to account for any heat emitted by the device itself. By setting a temperature offset, you can ensure that the readings are more accurate and reflect the actual temperature of the environment.

Attached sensors

In the Attached sensors subtab, you can add an external temperature or door/window sensor by pairing it to your Shelly BLU TRV via Bluetooth.

Schedule

Use the Schedule tab to configure tasks that run automatically at a specific time.

Adding schedules

1. Tap the Add schedule button.

2. In the Week days subtab, tap one of the following options:

• Simple - choose the weekday on which the schedule starts.

• Advanced:

  • Choose the weekday on which the schedule starts.

  • Select specific days of the month or Select specific months - turn on the toggle and define the following settings:

    • Select even or Select odd - choose this option if you want the schedule to start only on even or odd days or months.

    • From - To - enter the start and end date of the schedule period and tap Select to confirm it.

3. In the Time subtab, tap one of the following options:

• Simple - from the drop-down, choose between:

  • Time - tap the up or down arrows or enter a number to set the time of the schedule in hours and minutes.

  • Sunrise / Sunset - select from the drop-down the hours and minutes Before or After Sunrise or Sunset when the schedule must start.

• Advanced:

  • Hours, Minutes, or Seconds - turn on the toggle and define the following settings:

    • Select even or Select odd - choose this option if you want the schedule to start only on even or odd hours, minutes, or seconds.

    • From - To - enter a schedule interval or select the exact hours, minutes, or seconds to indicate when (and how many times) the schedule must start. Tap the Select button to save the changes.

4. In the Action subtab, tap + Add local action to specify the action that the device must perform. Select between the following options:

• Target temperature - the option is available if the automatic temperature control setting is enabled in Device settings > Behavior. Drag the pointer across the temperature wheel or tap the plus and minus signs to set a target temperature.

• Valve position - the option is available if the automatic temperature control setting is disabled in Device settings > Behavior subtab. Drag the slider to the left or to the right to change the target valve position.

5. Tap Save to confirm the settings, then Next to continue.

6. Review the summary of the action and tap Save to create the schedule.

Example:
Schedule: 5 pm on Monday; Target temperature: 24°C.
At 5 pm on Monday, the Shelly BLU TRV will start to regulate the flow of hot water into the radiator in order to reach the desired temperature of 24°C in the room.

Actions

Use the Actions tab to create an action that a device will execute automatically after a specific set of conditions is fulfilled.

Creating actions

1. Tap the Add action button.

2. In the Component subtab, choose the component that will hold the condition that triggers the action.
   The following components are available:

• TRV

• Battery

• Button

• Target temperature

• Current temperature

3. In the Name subtab, enter the name of the action, for example, Valve fully closed.

4. In the Time subtab, turn on the Set active time toggle and choose Start time and End time if you want the action to be executed only during a specific time.

5. In the Condition subtab, specify the following conditions that must be fulfilled to trigger the action:

• When - select the event that triggers the action based on the selected component in step 2.

• Condition - specify the condition that has to be met for the action to be executed.

• Repeat when - enter the minimum time interval before the action can repeat. Any condition that is met during the time interval will be ignored.

Example:
Component: TRV; Condition: Temperature change; Equal to: 30
The action will be triggered if the TRV measures that the room temperature reaches 30°C.

6. In the URLs subtab, choose the destination device and the type of action that must be performed. You have the following options:

• URL Actions - use this option if you want another device to perform the action. Select between the following options:

  • Add URL - enter the URL containing the IP address of the destination device and the action that it must perform.

  • Add action from another device - select the destination device from your account and then select the action to perform.

• Local Actions - use this option if you want your device to perform the action. Tap + Add local action and select among the following options:

  • Target temperature - the option is available if the automatic temperature control setting is enabled in Device settings > Behavior. Drag the pointer across the temperature wheel or tap the plus and minus signs to set a target temperature. You can also tap the plus and minus signs to define it.

  • Boost - enter how long the valve will be in 100% open position.

  • Valve position - the option is available if the automatic temperature control setting is disabled in Device settings > Behavior. Drag the slider to the left or to the right to change the target valve position.

7. Tap the Save button to create the action.

Example:
Condition: Temperature change less than 18°C; Repeat when: 120 seconds; Action: Target temperature: 22°C
The Shelly BLU TRV will start working towards reaching 22°C when the temperature falls under 18°C in a time interval less than 120 seconds.

Application settings

Use the Application settings tab to specify the main application settings on your Shelly device, such as appliance type or PIN lock.

Device card customization

In the Device card customization subtab, you can customize the big and small parameter slots on the preview card of your Shelly device. After customization, the changes apply everywhere that you see the device in the app.

Customizing card preview

1. Tap the Customize device card button. There are two types of slots that you can configure:

• Big Parameter slot - add parameters that will be displayed in the big parameter slot. Choose between the following options:

  • None - the default preview card of the device in your dashboard

  • Action - the action buttons available for this device will be visible in the preview card

  • Parameter - the information that you select from the dropdown will be visible in the big slot, for example, battery percentage

  • Reset - reset the applied configurations

• Small Parameter slot - here you can configure the parameters that will be displayed in the small parameter slot. Choose between the following options:

  • Add parameter from the Additional parameters panel

  • Remove a parameter from the Selected parameters panel

2. Tap Save to save the changes.

Device note

In the Device note subtab, you can leave a short note about your Shelly device.

Device usage details

In the Device usage details subtab, you can view the room, channel, and dashboard of the device.

Share

Use the ​Share​ tab to share limited access to your device with another user of the Shelly Smart Control application. Enter the user email address in the field and tap the ​Share​​ button.

View the list of users who already have limited control over your device. You can remove a user by tapping the delete button to the right of the email address.

Device settings

Use the Device settings tab to view and change the main settings of your Shelly device, such as name and firmware version.

Device name

In the Device name subtab, you can change the current name of the device.

To synchronize the modified name with the Web UI of the device, turn on the Sync device name toggle.

Calibration

In the Calibration subtab, you can start a calibration process by tapping the Start calibration button.

Behavior

Use the Behavior subtab to enable or disable Automatic temperature control on your Shelly BLU TRV and to configure the behavior settings that apply when it is enabled.

Turn on the Automatic temperature control toggle to let the device manage your room temperature automatically, using the behavior settings listed below.

Turn off the toggle to control the valve opening position manually. When automatic temperature control is disabled, the behavior settings below have no effect.

Menus affected by this setting:

• Main controls

• Sensor settings > Temperature favorite positions

• Device settings > Behavior

Behavior settings

The following behavior settings are available. Select the empty checkbox next to a specific setting to enable it.

• External temperature control - uses only the data from the external temperature sensor, not the readings of the built-in one.

• Accelerated heating - speeds up the heating process by reducing the time it takes to reach the target temperature.

• Auto calibration - allows the device to automatically correct calibration if necessary.

• Clog prevention - prevents clogging by allowing the device to ensure at least one valve movement per week.

• Balanced heating - balances energy efficiency and temperature control. When enabled, the TRV optimizes valve adjustments to reduce power consumption while maintaining a comfortable temperature. When disabled, it prioritizes temperature precision over power savings.

• Silent mode - reduces the noise from the TRV valve adjustments by making quieter valve movements.

Interface

In the Interface subtab, you can set up the following settings of the Shelly BLU TRV interface:

• TRV lock - select the checkbox to disable the control of the device via its rotary knob. The lock adds a layer of security by locking the display.

• TRV display rotate - select the checkbox to rotate the TRV display by 180°. The rotation allows for the screen of the device to rotate 180° based on how it is mounted.

• Temperature unit - select your preferred temperature unit: °C or °F.

• Brightness - drag the slider to adjust the brightness of the TRV display across seven levels.

Boost duration override

The boost mode duration is the time that the valve will be 100% open after hitting the boost button to get to the target temperature faster. In the Boost duration override subtab, you can set the duration of the boost mode in minutes. This overrides the default boost duration.

Boost open window target temperature

In the Boost open window target temperature subtab, you can set a temporary target temperature that the TRV uses when it detects an open window.

To enable the setting, switch the Enable temperature override toggle and enter a value for the temperature, as well as the duration of the override in minutes. After the duration period, the TRV will return to its previous target temperature.

Firmware version

In the Firmware version subtab, you can perform the following actions:

• View the current firmware version

• Check for updates

• Initiate an update

Device information

In the Device information subtab, you can view the Device ID, Device IP, Device type, and other important information about your device. You can use this information to easily identify your device when you contact Shelly Support if you encounter a problem.

You can also remove the device from your account by tapping the Delete button.
