Web interface guides
Find out how to manage and control your Shelly devices using their embedded web interface. The web interface guides refer to the last stable firmware version.
Accessing the Shelly Web Interface
Before using the web interface guides, you must first connect to your Shelly device.
The exact process depends on the type of device you are using.
Identify Your Device Type
Shelly devices fall into two categories:
Regular Devices
These devices are continuously powered and always available on the network.
Examples:
Shelly 1 Gen4
Shelly 1PM Gen4
Shelly Plug S Gen4
Shelly Pro devices
Sleeping Devices
These devices are battery-powered and spend most of their time in a low-power sleep state to conserve battery life.
Examples:
Shelly H&T Gen3
Other battery-powered Shelly sensors
Sleeping devices must be woken up before they can be configured.
Devices without an Access Point
Currently, the only device that doesn’t have an Access Point is the Shelly Wall Display. To access its web interface, you need to go into the device settings and connect it to a Wi-Fi network. For a more detailed explanation on accessing and using the Shelly Wall Display’s web interface, refer to its web interface guide.
Accessing the Web Interface of a Regular Device
When powered on for the first time, a Shelly device creates its own Wi-Fi network (Access Point).
Power the device.
Open the Wi-Fi settings on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Connect to the Wi-Fi network created by the device.
Open a web browser.
Navigate to:
http://192.168.33.1
The Shelly web interface will open. It is recommended that you connect the Shelly device to a Wi-Fi network by going to Settings->Network Settings->Wi-Fi. Once connected, you will see the device’s new IP address within that network, which you can visit while connected to the network to access its web interface. For a more detailed explanation on how to configure your device’s Wi-Fi, refer to its web interface guide, or see Connect Your Device to Your Network.
Access Point Timeout
For security reasons, the device Access Point is automatically disabled after 15 minutes.
If the Access Point is no longer visible:
Reactivate the Access Point by following the instructions in the device's User Guide.
Reconnect to the device's Wi-Fi network.
Open
http://192.168.33.1again.
Refer to the User Guide for your device-specific procedure. This is also why it is recommended to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network right away and access it through that network.
Accessing the Web Interface of a Sleeping Device
Sleeping devices must first be woken up before they can be configured.
To wake the device:
Follow the wake-up procedure described in the device's User Guide (usually by pressing the device button).
Wait for the device Access Point to become available.
Connect to the device's Wi-Fi network.
Open a web browser.
Navigate to:
http://192.168.33.1
The web interface will open.
Access Point Timeout
For battery conservation, sleeping devices automatically disable their Access Point after 3 minutes.
If the Access Point disappears before setup is completed:
Reactivate the device’s Access Point again by using the procedure described in the User Guide (usually restarting/resetting the device by holding the button).
Reconnect to the device's Wi-Fi network.
Continue the setup process.
Connect the Device to Your Wi-Fi Network
After accessing the web interface:
Open Wi-Fi settings.
Select your local Wi-Fi network.
Enter the network password.
Save the configuration.
The device will connect to your network.
Once connected, you can access it through the new IP address in the network you selected, which will be displayed in the Wi-Fi setting. If you lose access to the device after connecting it to a Wi-Fi network, you will need to reset the device, so its Access Point can become active again, and you will have to connect to it again and repeat the above steps.
