Waste electrical and electronic products (WEEE), batteries, accumulators and packaging should not be disposed of with general household waste. This is to prevent possible harm to the environment and human well-being, and to help conserve our natural resources. Most electrical products with a plug, battery, or cable can be recycled. Contact your local council, household waste disposal service, or the store where you purchased the product for information regarding the collection schemes in your area.

This symbol on the product and/or packaging indicates that Waste Electrical products (WEEE) under Directive 2012/19/EU which governs used electrical and electronic appliances, should not be disposed of with general household waste.

Waste electrical and electronic products (WEEE) purchased from Shelly can be returned recycled by Shelly. For more information on how to recycle this product please contact recycling@shelly.cloud. The end-user of electrical and electronic products (WEEE) is responsible for separating old batteries and lamp bulbs before they are handed over to a designated disposal and recycling service. Waste Batteries can also be disposed of in collection bins, which can be found in most local supermarkets and household waste recycling centers.
Personal date protection
Electrical and electronic products (WEEE) may contain personal user data, depending on the type of product. This may include app-linked products that connect to Wi-Fi. The end-user is responsible for deleting the data on the waste electrical and electronic products prior to disposal.

The role of end-users in contributing to waste prevention:
Proper disposal and recycling of Waste Batteries is essential for protecting the environment and human health. Shelly encourages end – users to follow the instructions provided by the manufacture of the Batteries, as well as their recommendations and best practices for reduce negative impact on the environment and extend battery life.
The role of end-users in contribution to the separate collection:
Electrical and electronic products (WEEE), Batteries, accessories (if any) and packaging must be collected separately and handed over for recycling in order to protect the environment.
Before disposing of an Electrical and electronic product (WEEE), remove its batteries and ensure both are collected separately and disposed of in accordance with Directive 2012/19/EU, Directive 2006/66/EC, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, and all applicable national and local environmental regulations.
Collection points
Batteries can be disposed of at official collection points or approved take-back programs in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, in which Shelly is registered.
The necessary safety instructions to handle waste batteries and batteries containing lithium
WARNING!
Chemical burn hazard. Keep batteries away from children.
If a new or used lithium button/coin cell battery is swallowed or enters the body, it can cause severe internal burns and can lead to death in as little as 2 hours.
If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
CAUTION!
Do not short – circuit batteries.
Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
Store collected batteries in a clean and dry environment out of direct sunlight and away from extreme heat.
Store collected batteries in a well-ventilated area.
Do not force discharge batteries.
Do not mix new and use batteries or batteries of different types and brands.
Do not mix the collected batteries with other materials.
Exhausted batteries should be immediately removed from the equipment and properly disposed of.
Do not weld or solder directly to batteries.
Do not dismantle batteries.
Do not deform batteries.
Do not dispose batteries on fire. Doing so could cause an explosion, resulting in serious injury or property damage.
Protect battery terminals.
Do not allow children to replace or disposal batteries without supervision.
A lithium battery with a damaged container should not be exposed to water.

This symbol on the batteries supplied with your product indicates that Waste Batteries under Regulation 2023/1542/EU which governs used batteries and accumulators should not be disposed of with general household waste.

This symbol indicates that the battery must be kept out of reach of children.
Impact of batteries on the environment, human health, and safety:
Batteries contain substances that can be harmful to the environment and human health if not managed responsibly.
Improper disposal of Batteries can result in harmful chemicals and heavy metals entering the environment or skin burns, respiratory problems, nervous system damage, and chronic illness as a result of prolonged exposure to toxic substances.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for proper installation, use and disposal of Batteries. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious health and safety risks to users, including fire, explosion, release of toxic substances, and other potentially life-threatening situations.
Always supervise children when they are near batteries. Swallowing batteries can lead to chemical burns, perforation of soft tissues, and death. Severe burns can occur within 2 hours of ingestions. In such event seek medical attention immediately.
