For installers and electricians. How Shelly devices help you size, commission, and hand over a Sigenergy installation.

Pre-installation site survey with Shelly Pro EM or Pro 3EM

Before quoting or sizing a Sigenergy system, install a Shelly Pro EM or Shelly Pro 3EM at the customer's main panel and leave it logging for at least one month. The recorded data gives you concrete numbers to base every design decision on:

  • Real peak demand (not the sum of nameplate ratings), so the inverter can be sized correctly.

  • Per-phase load distribution, useful when picking battery capacity and deciding where the EV charger should sit on the three phases.

  • Typical daily and seasonal consumption patterns, so the self-consumption and payback model presented to the customer is grounded in their actual usage.

  • A read on the existing grid quality (voltage and frequency stability) before adding inverter-tied loads.

  • Immediate phase-sequence verification. The moment the CT clamps are placed, the per-phase voltage, current, and power readings show any wiring error in the existing panel. Catching this at survey time means it gets corrected before any Sigenergy hardware arrives, and SigenStor commissioning later runs through without a phase-error stop. If the per-phase view shows a swap is needed.

One month is usually enough to capture a representative profile (working week, weekend, varied weather). Longer is better in homes with seasonal heating, pools, or shift schedules. After the system is installed, the same Shelly device continues to provide live per-circuit data to mySigen, so the survey effort pays off across the whole project.

Per-circuit power data for smarter load coordination

Sigenergy's smart-load scheduling works best when it knows the live draw of each appliance. Any Shelly relay with a power-monitoring channel (Pro 1PM, Pro 2PM, Pro 4PM, Plus 1PM, Plus 2PM) reports its circuit's real-time consumption to mySigen, so coordination decisions are built on measured values rather than name-plate assumptions.

Practical implication: where load coordination matters most (EV charger, oven, electric heaters, water heaters), specify Shelly relays with power monitoring rather than non-metering models.

Preparing Shelly devices for mySigen pairing

  • Get every Shelly device on the customer's home Wi-Fi during the Shelly-side setup, before opening mySigen. mySigen's WLAN Network discovery option then finds them in one scan and skips the Bluetooth provisioning steps.

  • Label each device physically with its location (panel slot, room, appliance). mySigen's WLAN scan shows devices by model only (for example ShellyPlus1PM), so a labeled unit is much easier to assign correctly to the right smart load.

  • Agree critical vs non-critical with the homeowner before pairing. Critical loads stay on during a grid outage and run from battery backup; non-critical loads switch off the moment the grid fails, to preserve battery capacity. This setting is per-device and can be changed later from the Smart Loads list.

Hand-over

The homeowner controls Shelly smart loads from mySigen and does not need to install or open the Shelly app for day-to-day operation. If specific devices are intended to remain under wall-switch or Shelly-app control rather than mySigen automation, leave them out of the mySigen smart load list, so they are not subject to mySigen's schedule overrides.
