Pairing Shelly Shutter with Shelly BLU RC Button 4

This procedure explains how to pair the Shelly Shutter with the Shelly BLU RC Button 4. You'll learn how to associate button actions (single, double, or triple press) for cover* control, and how to remove the associations, if needed.
*The term "cover" refers to various types of roller shutters, blinds, doors, etc.

Prerequisites:

  • The Shelly Shutter must already be installed, powered, and connected to wall switches or buttons for cover control.

  • The distance between the Shelly Shutter and the Shelly BLU RC Button 4 must be less than 1.5 m (4.92 ft).

Creating button associations

The Shelly BLU RC 4 has four buttons, which can only be associated in pairs: 1-2 and 3-4.

  • When you associate a button in a pair, it is mapped to control the Open direction.

  • The other button in the pair is automatically mapped to control the Close direction.

  1. Activate pairing mode on the Shelly BLU RC by pressing and holding two of its buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. Upon release, blue LED starts flashing and the Device enters pairing mode for 1 minute.

  2. Activate learning mode on the Shelly Shutter:

    • If a switch is connected to the input, turn the switch ON/OFF 3 times.

    • If a button is connected to the input, press the button 3 times.

While activating the learning mode, the cover moves and stops 3 times. If the shutter is fully open or closed and the switch is pressed in the same direction, no movement occurs.

  1. Wait for up to 20 seconds until the cover moves briefly. This indicates that the Shelly Shutter enters learning mode, and you can proceed with the association. If the shutter is fully open or closed, no movement occurs.

  2. Perform a single, double, or triple press on a button to associate the corresponding button action with the Shelly Shutter. Upon successful association, the cover moves briefly.

You can associate all three button actions with the same Shelly Shutter.

Operation

  • Activating a button action when the cover is static: Moves the cover in the corresponding direction until the endpoint is reached.

  • Activating an action on the same button while the cover is moving: Stops the cover.

  • Activating an action on the button for the opposite direction while the cover is moving: Reverses the cover movement until the endpoint is reached.

Removing button associations

  1. Activate learning mode on the Shelly Shutter. See Creating Button Associations, Step 2.

  2. Perform a single, double, or triple press on a button to remove the corresponding association.
