Shelly Pro Sensor Add-on Device Smart Control
About Shelly Pro Sensor Add-on
To use the Shelly Pro Sensor Add-on, you must first attach it to another Shelly Pro device that will act as a host. For more information about the compatible Shelly devices, go to the Knowledge Base Add-ons page.
Add-on peripherals
In your Shelly Smart Control application, use the Add-on peripherals tab of the host device to enable sensor connectivity after the Pro Sensor Add-on device is directly attached to the host. You can also use the tab to view and manage the add-on device configurations.
Enabling Pro Sensor Add-on in Shelly Smart Control
Tap on the host device to open its settings.
Go to the Add-on peripherals tab.
In the Manage add-on feature submenu, select the Sensor Add-on option.
Tap the Save and reboot button. You must reboot your device to apply the changes.
Device reboot will briefly interrupt the Wi-Fi connectivity to the host device.
To ensure that the Pro Sensor Add-on firmware is up to date, go to the IP address of the embedded web interface of your host device.
Next step: After you enable the Pro Sensor Add-on on your host device, add the sensors that are physically connected to your add-on device as peripherals, for example: Temperature sensor.
Adding sensors as peripherals
To view the data collected by a specific sensor, you must add the sensor as a peripheral in your Shelly Smart Control application. To see the list with all supported sensors, go to the Shelly Pro Sensor Add-on page.
Tap on the host device to open its settings.
Go to the Add-on peripherals tab.
Tap the Add peripheral button.
Select the peripheral type and the channel through which it is connected to your device. Tap Rescan if you cannot find the sensor that you want to add in the list.
Tap the Add peripheral button. Your device will reboot to apply the changes.
Device reboot will briefly interrupt the Wi-Fi connectivity to the host device.
Viewing collected data
When you add sensor peripherals, the Charts tab appears in your host device. You can use the tab to view the collected information per sensor.
In each chart you can:
Filter the available information by:
Time period – select the time period for which you want to view the chart. From the drop-down choose one of the following options: Last 24 hours, Day, Hourly, Last 7 days, or other.
Date – choose the specific date for which you want to view the details. Use the left and right arrows to find a specific date.
Manage the preferred chart preview by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner of the chart.
Peripheral settings
You can access the settings of a specific sensor peripheral by tapping the settings button next to the name of the peripheral in the Add-on peripherals tab of the host. The peripheral settings depend on the type of the sensor that is connected to your add-on device.
Example: If you add a temperature sensor, you can configure temperature offset, temperature threshold, or extract peripheral as a separate device.
Actions
In the Add-on peripherals tab of the host, you can use the Actions subtab to create an action that is automatically executed on a specific device after a set of conditions is met.
Creating actions
Tap the Add action button and then choose a peripheral.
Enter the name of the action, for example: Switch off.
If you want the action to occur during a specific time period, switch the Set active time toggle, and specify the Start time and End time of the period.
Select the event that must happen to trigger the action, for example: Temperature change.
Specify an additional condition that must be fulfilled to trigger the action, for example: More than 5℃.
Example: When the event Temperature change occurs and the temperature is above 5℃, the condition is met. If the condition is met, a specific action will be triggered.
Enter the minimum time interval before the action can repeat. Any condition that is met during the time interval will be ignored.
Example
When: Temperature change. Condition: More than 5℃, Repeat when: 60 seconds.
The action will repeat if the temperature changes with more than 5℃ after the next 60 seconds.
Choose the type of action that must be performed:
URL Actions - use this option to add actions by entering URL links to the destination device or by tapping the Add action from another device button.
Local Actions - use this option if you want the action to be executed in your host device:
Tap Add local action. Select between the following options:
Control Output - set the state of the target device to On or Off. Mark the checkbox Flip value after and enter the number of seconds that should pass for the state to be changed.
Toggle Output - flip the current state of the target device
Example:
When: Temperature change, Condition: More than 5℃, Repeat when: 60 seconds, Action: Control Output: Off
If the sensor reports that the temperature changes with more than 5℃, the host device will switch off. The action will repeat if the temperature changes with more than 5℃ after 60 seconds.
Tap Save to create the action.
Showing peripherals as separate devices
In the Add-on peripherals tab of the host, go to the peripheral settings and switch the Extract peripherals as device toggle to show the sensor peripheral as a separate device in the application.
When enabled, the sensor peripheral is visible in the Devices list as a separate device. Tap on the device visualization to access the peripheral settings tabs.
Peripheral device settings
The following tabs are available for the peripheral if the Extract peripherals as device toggle is switched on.
Main controls
You can use the Main controls tab to view the data reported by the sensor peripheral, including:
A chart showing data reported for the last 24 hours. To view more details, tap on the chart to open the Charts tab.
The current reported value of the parameter
Notifications
You can use the Notifications tab to view the notifications that you received on your device.
Charts
You can use the Charts tab to view graphical representations of the information collected by the sensor.
In each chart you can:
Filter the available information by:
Time period – select the time period for which you want to view information. From the drop-down choose an option, for example Last 24 hours, Day, Hourly, or Last 7 days.
Date - choose the specific date for which you want to view information. Use the left and right arrows to find a specific date.
Manage the preferred chart preview by tapping the three dots in the upper right corner of the chart.
View the chart and summarized consumption information, such as Average, Max, and Min values.
