Deployments: Bulgaria, Africa, India

Challenges

Typical challenges in the hospitality sector such as effectively using and managing electricity, heating, staff manual interventions in the same time increase guest satisfaction and evaluating all sort of hotel activities.

Solutions/Implementations

Electricity Consumption Optimization:

  • Layered Monitoring:

    • First layer: Measure the main power supply in the main building enclosure using Shelly Pro3EM.

    • Second layer: Install Shelly Pro3EM/Plus/Pro EM in all secondary switchboards.

    • Third layer: Mount Shelly PM/EM devices at endpoints.

  • Scheduling and Scenario Creation:

    • Develop schedules and scenarios based on monitored consumption.

    • Achieve sustainable independent building operation, reducing human intervention.

    • Provide recommendations for inspection, replacement, and repair for optimization.

Heating Cost Optimization:

Shelly TRV Implementation:

Install Shelly TRV on each radiator to maintain an even temperature in rooms.

Customized Hot Water Supply:

  • Redirect hot water flow based on room needs, avoiding overheating.

  • Achieve comfort with constant temperature and sustainable device operation.

Consumption Reduction:

  • Close parts of the circulation circuit to reduce operating time and energy consumption.

  • Significantly reduce human involvement in heating system operation.

Combined Heating with Floor and Radiators:

  • Control flow of heated water through electro valves using Shelly Pro/Plus series.

  • Use Shelly Plus H&T for temperature measurement and relay control.

  • Add-ons with temperature sensors provide insight into the heating system's overall operation.

Routine Activity and Consumption Monitoring:

Monitoring Benefits:

Identify issues such as burnt lamps through consumption shifts.

Take corrective actions before user complaints, reducing emergency repair costs.

Manage lighting and consumer performance through summarized monitoring.

 Automation for Lighting Control:

Shelly Devices:

Use Shelly Plus 1/2PM, Plus Dimmer, Wall display + Shelly Motion 2 for lighting automation.

Scenario-based Automation:

  • Adjust lighting based on time, occupancy, and predefined scenarios.

  • Decrease human involvement, enhancing employee comfort and building efficiency.

 Comfort Package and Temperature Management:

Shelly Devices Used:

  • Shelly Dimmer / RGB for illumination control.

  • Shelly Wall Display/Plus H&T for temperature and humidity monitoring.

Automation Highlights:

  • Predefined scenarios for different activities, adjusting lighting and environmental conditions.

  • Maintain comfort even in the absence of guests, avoiding unnecessary power interruptions.

 Added Value Through Automation:

Energy Footprint Monitoring:

  • Monitor consumption in three layers to understand the energy footprint of each guest.

  • Calculate price per night with included activities and services, facilitating financial planning and minimizing risk.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the activities outlined encompass a comprehensive approach to optimize costs, enhance comfort, and reduce human intervention in hotel operations. Through Shelly automation and monitoring, hotels can efficiently manage resources, increase guest satisfaction, and streamline financial planning.
